About Me

Hello! Welcome to my tiny corner on the web!! I am Harshil Jain and I graduated with a Bachelor in Technology (with Honours) in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar), Gujarat, India in January 2021. I am currently working as a Member of Technical Staff at Nutanix, Bangalore, India.

During the summer of 2020, I pursued a summer research internship at the Data and Web Science (DWS) Group, Universität Mannheim, Germany under the guidance of Prof. Goran Glavaš where I worked on injecting common sense knowledge into unsupervised multilingual pretraining models for multichoice classification. I was awarded the most prestigious and coveted DAAD WISE 2020 Scholarship to pursue this internship which is awarded to approximately 130 students from India every year out of more than 2000 applications by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

During the summer of 2020, I was also a researcher at NeuralSpace, London, United Kingdom where I worked on building end to end binarized neural networks for text classification. This work has been accepted at the SustaiNLP 2020 Workshop on Simple and Efficient Natural Language Processing at EMNLP 2020.

During the summer of 2019, I was a research fellow at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India under the guidance of Prof. Soumitra Nandy where I worked on incremental training for image classification of unseen objects. I was selected through the Indian Academy of Sciences Fellowship which is awarded to approximately 350 students every year from India.

I am very fortunate to have worked with various esteemed professors while I was at IIT Gandhinagar. I worked with Prof. Shanmuganathan Raman on a project involving blind motion deblurring which also got accepted at the Deep Internal Learning Workshop, ECCV 2020. I also worked on a research project on exploring quantum machine learning algorithms with Prof. Anirban Dasgupta. The project involved the literature review of quantum recommendation systems and the classical version of it and contrasting the two algorithms. It also involved implementation of quantum generative adversarial networks (QGAN) in TensorFlow Quantum Framework.

I have been awarded the prestigious National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Scholarship by the Depatment of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. I am also the receipent of the Kishore Vaigyanik Protshan Yojana (KVPY) Fellowship awarded by the Govt. of India.

I am broadly interested in Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing.
